Very good Zune Dock

by Lex from on 2010-09-08
I received this Dock as a gift about a month ago, and have used it about every day since. It was very easy to set up and get working, and took about ten minutes to plug in and set the clock, date, and radio presets. I have been using my ZuneHD with it, with no problems thus far. Pros: -Good sound quality, nothing major but good for your nightstand. -Has two Alarms that can be set to beep, Radio, or Zune. -Alarm starts out quiet and gets louder until you turn it off. -Has adjustable Sleep function that lets you set it to turn off music after a set amount of time. -Has six radio presets -Eight brightness settings that range from bright to basically off. -Charges Zune -Displays Date and Time. Cons: -No remote included or available. You have to skip or change songs on the Zune. (It does have Pause/Play button) -There are three buttons for the six radio presets.(two per button) -Zune feels a little loose when in the cradle. I gave it a four only because I would love for it to have a remote or even have to option to buy one. The fact that it doesn't have one could be considered a fatal flaw. But overall, if a remote is not important, then this is a definite buy.

Great Service

great service arrived a day early and the quality of this item is amazing i would recommend this to any Zune user.

Good Alarm clock for Zune

by Carrie Mitchell from on 2010-09-03
I love this alarm clock because i am able to wake up to music from my Zune HD. The only problem i have with it is that it does not include a remote and you have to change the song from your Zune not from the alarm clock. Other than that i love it!

No good Zune alternatives.

by Mark I. Agee from Dallas, TX USA on 2010-08-16
I think I've tried every external speaker system for the Zune and this is one of the weakest. For this price, there should be a remote control,--but there isn't. The sound quality is modest at best. The buttons make no sense what-so-ever,--for instance if you want to skip to the next song, you have to fiddle with the unit in the cradle since there is no button on the speaker system.

Great Clock Radio/Docking Station

by Bradley E Mixan from Indianapolis, IN on 2010-07-22
After owning the IHome ZN9 for over a year and being completely happy with it I wanted to get another. Since that model is no longer in production I went with the ZN90. There aren't many options for Zune alarm clock/docking stations out there, but luckily this one does the trick. As a alarm clock, this product works as advertised. The eight different brightness settings are nice, especially since I like to have the display off and the room as dark as possible when going to sleep. Additionally the alarm is nice since it gradually increases in volume until you turn it off or snooze it, as opposed to instantly blaring in your ear when you wake up. As a docking station/music player it does a good job as well. I use the ZN90 at work in my cubicle to listen to podcasts and music. It is not something I'd use to play music in a party setting, there are other products for that, but it can definitely fill a room with sound. The AM/FM antennas work well and I can pick up the local stations no problem, which is great if I want to listen to a baseball game at work. Overall I would definitely recommend this product.

just what I want for my truck

I installed it on mazda 1999 B4000 was easy. it gave me a woring CD? HD radio, aux, and usb; it works great;

Love it. Didn't hesitate to buy a 2nd

by Stoney Cooper from Fresno, CA on 2010-08-21
This stereo has all the features I was looking for, is from a brand I know and trust, and all at a good price. When I got my '96 Camry, it came with an older Pioneer stereo that was decent, but it didn't support mp3/wmv data discs and I wasn't about to haul my music collection around on 200 discs. Now I can fit my music collection (~14GB) on 20 discs and all of my favorites will fit on 1 disc. I generally average ~20 hrs of music per data disc, so there have been times where I'll have the same CD in my stereo for over a week and never listen to the same track twice. The HD radio is nice, but it will be much better once all of the stations have caught on and taken advantage of it's features (some stations still don't have any HD channels and some have HD but don't broadcast track/album/artist information). HD sub-stations (ie, 103.7 will has 2 stations to choose from instead of 1) are nice because usually when one station is on a commercial break, another will still be playing music. The USB port works great for using my iPhone 4 to play music and/or use GPS through my car speakers and also works as a car charger for my phone & bluetooth). When you plug an iPhone/iPod in, iPod controls switch from the phone to the stereo, so you can use the remote if you'd like (it's possible to keep it from switching control to the stereo, so you can still control use the iPhone to browse your faves, but I was distracted so I'm not sure how I did it, will update if I figure it out). With the USB port, you can also plug in a flash drive and play the music from it (8GB FAT32 works, haven't tried larger sizes or other file systems). The aux port works for using your iPhone/iPod to control the music, but volume & clarity isn't as good as when using the USB port. One of my favorite features is the Quick-Browzer, which lets you scroll through from album to album, then track to track, making it much easier to find that song you're looking for. It is true that the blue lights are brighter & more noticeable than the green display lights, but I live in a decent sized city in CA and with the city lights, even at 12am - 4am, the brighter blue lights aren't a distraction. Even when driving around in darker, rural areas, I've never felt the need to switch to the green display. My one minor complaint with the lights is that pretty much every Sony stereo I've seen has the option of red display lights, but this one doesn't. Tl;dr: It's great, I love it. When my faceplate & remote were stolen, I didn't hesitate to order a 2nd of these from Amazon (getting a whole new stereo here was cheaper than getting just the faceplate & remote from Sony).

a little touchy

by jonathan brailsford from charleston SC on 2010-08-20
works well and I espeically like the ability to use a usb flash thumb drive to play music. The only thing is: I keep on changing the speker fade due to the fact a quick press of the main knob for volume will take you to the fade setting. Too sensitive for me. You also have to press another button to get back to the volume.

All grins

I never thought replacing a perfectly good CD player with this thing would make me so happy but it has. No more burning CD's just to listen to a few songs that I like - I just put them on a flash drive and boom...there it is. HD Radio is very nice too but I think it will take a little while for the broadcasters to make sense of it. Right now on the FM side existing radio stations have various sub-channels but I have no idea what they are, their format etc. and often it's a re-broadcast of their sister AM station. One negative thing is I wish it would give the option of either showing the file name or the meta-data that contains the artist information etc. My newer MP3's have all the song's information embedded so those work fine, but for my older MP3's that I ripped (many from out of print vinyl) many years ago don't have any meta-data and the song name and artist is in the file name only. The way this player treats them is only to write "track 11" or whatever the order on the flash drive is. Ironically when I hit the magnify glass to search for songs, it shows their file name so unless I'm missing something I wish they would add this. But really, for a $127 or whatever it costs now, this is a GREAT player. I was looking for something just 6 months ago and the cheapest thing I found with these features was well over $200.

Good, but not Solid

by Dan Can from on 2010-08-09
The sound is great, all functions work as advertized. The only thing that held this product away from 5 stars was the faceplate itself. Sometimes the faceplate lights will go out, then I have to push on it to get it to display. I have gone over some of the bumpiest roads and it dosen't skip a beat. Overll I am satisfyed.

For the money, a knock out deal.

by eschrip from on 2010-08-26
If you are looking for a general purpose, functional network media player, then consider this device as an option. While all of the devices of it's class may leave something to be desired from the user interface point of view, this one has been highly compatible, and easy to configure. I use local files (via USB hard drive), and LAN resources (both file share and UPnP DNLA Servers, in this case PlayOn and Orb) and have been pleased. I stream both raw files as well as access DVD images across my LAN (Wired and Wireless N). Everything I have thrown at it has worked and I recommend it highly. Pros : Plays almost everything Cost efficient Decent remote both for access of files and playing DVD images DNLA compatible so using a Transcoding server (in this case PlayOn from MediaMall) works to get me access to Hulu, Netflix, and a boatload of other online media Cons: User interface isn't exceptional

Not as Expected..

by Rahul from Dallas on 2010-08-20
There are few challenges while playing and connecting. I set up this box to a wireless connection and tried the BT downloader, but the setting is too complicated and often rebooted. I may have to try a different media player

great but the BT

by R. HILAIRE from on 2010-08-19
Works great. Automatically upgraded my firmware. One question. How do you directly download bit torrents to this. I opened a BT site on my computer than saved my 2 different files to my thumb drive instead of opening it to my bit torrent program. I then attached the drive to the player, found the files and it attempted to download but no luck. I had an error on both files. Great overall player but if someone could help with the BT down loader I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Best Streaming Device with Reasonable Price

by Andrew Wilson from Amarillo, TX USA on 2010-07-20
I had a Western Digital WDTV for my high quality ISO files;I was looking for another better price one for my rmvb files, and found this one with some features I'd like to have on top of my WDTV: - read and play my RMVB movies. - P2P server included; I just need to provide the seed files at one time and leave it with my FIOS 15/5MB network. The thing is it didn't read my FAT32 drive so I have to switch to my NTFS one. - Nice remote control; there are bunches of buttons on its remote; like DVD menu buttons and full number pad. - Online update with this player is free; dont forget to update it to get those bonus features. - Streaming my Youtube files and ESPN3; I tried PlayOn and it's like a pc to tv streaming box. Need to test more day to see if I really want to purchase it after the free trail. - Free online TV programs. Also, on my machine, 1280x720p was the maximum I got on my realvideo files and it's streaming at around 1m bytes bitrate. Going to test mpeg and dvix next week; hope it won't make me return it to amazon. Overall, it's a pretty good price with those bonus.

Good Choice - Pretty comfortable with it every day

by William Johnson from Memphis, TN USA on 2010-07-15
A quick summary to share what I learn and see so far : Pros: 1. Easy to install; very easy. Compact size with a decent remote. 2. HDMI port with a bonus HDMI cable in the box. 3. Read all my files and play via HDMI flawlessly. 4. Quick pick up on my wireless router. The configuration interface is easy to use. 5. Purchased Tversity before for my PSP; this box works well too with Tversity after first streaming. 6. L/R sound channel selection on the remote; good for my father-in-law. 7. Two USB Ports; I used one for my 1TB external hard drive and one left for my USB drive just in case. 8. Resume function; it auto play where you were at last time. Very useful. 9. free online update; free is good. Cons: 1. have to use its own Wifi dongle to get it works wirelessly. 2. There are lots of free online TV channels, but you have to try one by one and add it in your favorite list. Because there are too many dead and invalid URL. 3. need to check online update because there is no notification like what Microsoft is doing.
